We order mainly from two BC distributors: Horizon Distributors, who is Western Canada’s largest distributor of organic and natural products in the dry, chill and frozen categories, and an organic produce wholesaler from the BC Coast, who is an independently owned Canadian distributor of certified organic and fair trade produce.
We have are working on Local Produce Buying with the aim of supporting our local farmers and the local economy while at the same time providing value to our members. See New – Local Buying in the Source drop-down menu of the ordering system for what is available.
We are also working on developing arrangements to group buy from Fieldstone Granary, who is dedicated to promoting production of spelt and other certified organic grain crops in the Okanagan and throughout BC.
As well, an off-shoot of the club participates each September in a Rancho Vignola order. To participate in this group buy please send an email to us with Rancho in the subject line.
In December 2017 we launched our Local Buying Program, where members are able to purchase via the club produce from farmers within the Kamloops area. To inquire about participating in the program as a farmer, please send an email to kamloopsorganics[at]shaw.ca with Local Buying Farmer in the subject line. For members, items available in the Local Buying Program can be found listed under the Source: Local Buying Program (LBP) in the ordering system.
Horizon Distributors Catalogue
NEW – Horizon Wellness Catalogue
In late 2019 the Horizon parent company merged two of it’s subsidiaries (Horizon Distributors & Horizon Health & Wellness). This change means as of spring 2020, KOBC is now able to order from both. The order deadline is slightly earlier for Wellness orders as they are handled as an inclusion with the Horizon Distributor’s order. As well we need to meet an order minimum of $375 before shipping discount.
The Organics Produce Catalogue (please note the produce orders are delivered on Wednesdays to a different location which is on the North Shore and order dates vary month to month). Please be aware that produce prices fluctuate quite a bit and the prices in the produce catalogues should be used as an indicator only. If price is a concern for you, please contact Deanna and she can get more up-to-date prices for the Sunday order deadline.
NOTE: the links for the catalogues in Excel/Open Office and PDF formats are links through our DropBox site. It seems DropBox has a promotion on now that will take you to DropBox first asking if you want to open an account (free) with them, before taking you to the file. You can access the file by clicking on the No Account, Continue to File option at the bottom of the pop up window. You can also download it to PDF or Excel still, but there is now these extra steps. Sorry for any hassle.
